Pexhurst’s Site Proud Scheme – One Year On

Following feedback from our clients, Pexhurst introduced the Site Proud scheme 12 months ago to maintain pride in our projects and to motivate the team to reach even higher standards on-site. Seeing improvement in the quality delivered across all sites and attitudes of the team, we are delighted with the impact Site Proud has made in just one year.

Much like attentive homeowners being houseproud, we believe that Site Managers should be ‘Site Proud’, resulting in the scheme that encourages employees to uphold best practice in organisation, health and safety and documentation on-site. Under the scheme, all Pexhurst’s sites are assessed and graded. Out of all live projects reviewed, the delivery team on the best maintained and presented site are rewarded with Site Proud trophies and vouchers to spend.

Pexhurst have seen further improvement on sites that were already achieving high standards, following the implementation of the Site Proud scheme. We are delighted that in 2022, we received A grades across 98% of our projects, and in a recent anonymous survey sent to clients, 88% of respondents classed the quality of Pexhurst’s services as four and five-star.

In the same survey, a client commented that Pexhurst’s sites were “very good, especially in terms of site security and cleanliness.” Another client commented that sites had “clean, tidy, adequate space for operatives and site staff, adequate PPE for visitors and all statutory procedures were followed.” The Site Proud initiative was also well-received, with one client commenting that it is “a good way of keeping staff on their feet and maintaining sites to the highest benchmark possible.”

Alan Bridge, Associate Director at Pexhurst has been a valued member of the team for over 25 years, making him the clear candidate to conduct on-site assessments to a high standard.  Alan commented on the scheme, “The fit-out and refurbishment sector is becoming increasingly competitive, so having the Site Proud scheme not only sets us apart from the competition, but also shows our clients that we care and are a safe pair of hands.”

Alan produces a report on each site, based on site appearance and display, correct documentation, the programme of works and how this is being tracked, health and safety scores, Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations, Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) ratings and any additional initiatives taken by staff.

Commenting on ingenuity shown by the wider team, Alan stated, “I was really impressed by one site I assessed in particular where the Site Manager had taken the initiative to implement an electrical charging station for battery tools, which will now be used across all of our live projects. The scheme benefits everyone because our team is recognised for their hard work, which boosts their morale – and their great ideas can be rolled out across all sites, which benefits the company and our clients.”

The Site Proud scheme has been well-received by employees with Alan noticing a marked improvement in the quality and standard across all live sites. “Since implementing the scheme, I have seen everyone take more pride in their sites by lifting the quality benchmark even higher. Our sites are cleaner, our cabins are cleaner, and documentation is produced to an even higher standard.”

One member of the team commented, “Any scheme that has the potential to make a site cleaner and safer is always good practice. It motivates us to keep sites in good shape.”

Another employee added, “I think the Site Proud scheme is great; it motivates everyone to be on the ball and adds a little bit of healthy competition between Site Managers which is always fun!”

Following the success of the scheme, we will continue with this initiative on a bi-monthly basis to ensure a fair assessment of all sites as Pexhurst secure more projects.
