These are externally accredited industry recognised certifications underpinned by our ISO Integrated Management System which is maintained by our in-house management team requiring us to adhere to quality procedures and provide our clients with the comfort of knowing they can rely upon us to deliver to the highest possible standards.
Our experienced and knowledgeable team, many of whom have been with us for over 10 years including our Managing Director Martin Vella who has led the company for over 30 years remain committed to providing our clients with innovative and sustainable solutions tailored to their needs. Ensuring every project is delivered to the highest quality, on time, and to budget.
With 45 years of experience, we are a privately owned company with excellent financial stability and a strong pipeline of projects, working with some of the largest property, investment and asset management companies in the UK. The solid foundations that our financial stability gives us enables us to deliver successful projects for clients without having to compromise the Pexhurst approach. We have a high quality and reliant supply chain that we can depend upon for all of our projects, no matter the type, scale or geographical location. Access to extensive resources means we can fast track delivery of projects where needed.
Health, Safety and Wellbeing
We are committed to promoting a health, safety and wellbeing culture among our employees and supply chain partners which is reflected in our excellent on-site Health and Safety track record.
Traditionally, the health and safety focus in construction has been on the more immediately-apparent physical hazards on site and less so on employee wellbeing. At Pexhurst, we are contributing to changing these long-held attitudes through investment in training and developing a positive health and safety culture including bi-annual toolbox talks on mental health.
As part of the process, we employ external consultants to regularly visit our sites, review best practice and provide real time reporting on relevant issues. All site and contract managers undergo regular training, and we provide peer support sources like our workplace Mental Health Champions to all employees. We have implemented an anonymous survey and encourage open and honest conversations so that our employees are able to express themselves freely.

Our comprehensive apprenticeship scheme offers fully funded training and education alongside paid hands-on learning, where individuals are given the opportunity to learn a wide range of new skills and techniques while familiarising themselves with the business by following our bespoke Pexhurst training plan. We are incredibly proud of the success of this scheme, which is a core part of our talent strategy.
Many of our site workers have studied for and achieved their Level 3 and 4 Diploma in Construction Site Management and those who have also achieved their HNC in Construction Management. And we support many of our head office employees through further education too, such as master degrees and aiding members of our team to become a Chartered Member of the CIOB.

Social Responsibility and Sustainability
We are committed to corporate social responsibility, particularly in the communities in which we work, engaging with local people and charitable causes through a number of opportunities. In 2020, we donated and raised in excess of £8,000 for a number of charities, including Teenage Cancer Trust, Isabel Hospice, Land Aid and Potential Kids. We recently achieved an impressive milestone of £25,000 raised for Isabel Hospice, a charity very close to the heart’s of everyone here at Pexhurst.
We are also dedicated to minimising the environmental impact of our work, reducing waste and investing in new ‘green’ technologies. This is supported by our qualified Site Sustainability Managers whose main responsibility is to support the achievement of sustainable design aspirations during all stages of a project, including achieving target BREEAM ratings. We support sustainability through:
- Quality – targeting flexibility and adaptability to ensure the integrity of durability across all projects
- Materials – understanding the efficiency, durability and resilience of all materials used
- Energy – optimising site for efficient energy use and energy management
- Waste – targeting waste reduction and management for minimum environmental impact
- Social – targeting positive impact and contribution to the local community through regular communication on operation matters through our tenant and neighbour newsletters
