Pexhurst’s Golf Day raises £3,500 for Mates in Mind

Workplace mental health charity Mates in Mind is £3,500 better off as a result of our fundraising golf day that attracted an impressive 60 people – 50 of whom were clients – and was held on Thursday 15th July at the Centurion Club, St Albans a week after it hosted the Ladies European Tour Aramco Team Series Event.

Funds were raised for Mates in Mind through an online silent auction, where bids were placed on a number of unique items, including an Apple watch and a Tottenham Hotspur first team shirt signed by Son Heung-Min. Guests at our event included golfers from Hollis, JLL, CBRE, Segro, Mileway and Avison Young.

Sarah Casemore, Managing Director of Mates in Mind, said: “We are so pleased to once again have the support of the team at Pexhurst, who have not only championed our work, but also hosted their annual golf day in order to generate much needed funds and awareness about mental ill-health in the construction sector.”

Director Nick Tagliarini commented: “The Covid pandemic made many people think about their wellbeing and health. Those reflections should include mental health too. That’s why we chose Mates in Mind as the charity for our golf day. The amount we raised reflected the generosity of our guests and the importance they put on the subject. We’re tremendously grateful to the sponsors and those that donated items for the auction.”

The goodie bag sponsor was Premierseal, and HD Sharman sponsored the halfway house. The best individual score was achieved by Matt Donaldson of Paragon with 44 Stableford points. The best team, with 92 points, was Martin Vella, Ashley Winter (Hollis), Martin Shaw (Tritax) and Freddie Davies (LaSalle).

Additionally, the nearest to the pin was won by Richard New of Mills & Reeve; longest drive was accomplished by Georgie Lomas of JLL; and five people beat the pro on the 5th hole.
