We’re proud to have many colleagues that celebrate significant anniversaries with Pexhurst – a trend which continues. The latest member of the ‘20-years at Pexhurst club’ is Site Project Manager Dan Flint.
We sat down with him to discuss this milestone…
1. What first attracted you to Pexhurst?
The opportunity to work for an established Main Contractor – one that I felt, with the right support, would allow me to contribute meaningfully and grow professionally.
2. How have things changed during your 20 years at the company?
The industry has changed significantly, particularly around health and safety, which is now rightly a much greater priority. Over the years, Pexhurst has successfully adapted to industry and economic changes, while continuing to support staff and maintain a close-knit, family-focused culture.
3. What has kept you at Pexhurst for 20 years?
The people, my peers, the company’s ethics and principles, team mentality, and the personal support and trust that allows individuals to evolve and flourish in their roles.
4. What achievement are you most proud of in your career at Pexhurst so far?
My 20-year journey itself, and being part of a team that consistently delivers quality projects, while building strong and rewarding client relationships.
5. What ingredients do you think make for a successful project?
In short: communication, planning and the right people.
6. What advice would you give to someone starting out in the construction industry today, or starting their first apprenticeship in the industry?
Always strive to achieve and improve – in your role and at a personal level. Learn, listen, respect your colleagues’ experience and knowledge. Take pride in your work, and support those around you.
7. How do you like to spend time outside of work?
My downtime and haven is my family and my life partner. We love adventures in the great outdoors with our dogs, and exploring our stunning natural surroundings. A particular favourite is fossil hunting – searching for long-lost treasures with my young boys.
8. Do you have any predictions for the future of the industry?
The principles and the importance of people will remain the same, even as the industry continues to evolve. Demands and constraints will increase, whilst workforce development and skills will be challenged. Sustainability will continue to play a dominant role, as it must. Pexhurst will continue to demonstrate reliability and strong planning to meet client demands.
